Spark Innolab Summer 2026 Workshops
Summer will be sizzling at Spark! We are offering multiple options for your students to stay engaged with STEM and maybe ignite some new interests. Workshops marked Embers are open to ages 10-12. Those without an age listed are open to ages 12+. More information will be added soon. Please reach out with any questions, and join our mailing list to be notified when registration opens!

Access Passes
Looking for self-directed summer options? Spark Innolab is offering two unique Access Passes.
Intro to Game Development: This is summer access to approximately 30 hours of content around Game Development designed for students in grades 6 to 8 with no prior coding experience. Students conceptualize, design, and make their very own interactive and creative games. They will explore both the theory of game development and introductory computer science concepts. Materials fee: $100
Intro to Web Development: This is summer access to approximately 30 hours of content around Web Development designed for students in grades 6 to 8 with no prior web design experience. Students will use HTML and CSS to design, create, and breathe life into visually appealing web pages from scratch. Materials fee: $100
Course Descriptions: Embers (age 10-12)
Embers Science Experiments: Chemistry, physics, and all the fun stuff! Topics will be introduced at approximately a middle school level, and then students will explore each with a hands-on experiment. Tuition: $200. Materials Fee: $30
Embers Engineering Projects: Explore engineering at Spark! Students will be guided to use the engineering design process to tackle challenges. Tuition $200. Materials Fee: $30
Embers Lego Robotics: Foster innovative and creative thinking with Lego Spike Prime! Teams will tackle challenges inspired by past First Lego League seasons. Tuition $200. Materials Fee: $30
Embers CAD with 3D Printing: Can’t get enough of 3D printing? This summer workshop will use Tinkercad to create printed projects. Tuition $200. Materials Fee: $30
Course Descriptions: Sparks (ages 12+)
Space Lander Simulation Project: Imagine a destination in the deep reaches of space; a planet in another star system whose surface has never before been seen. Teams of students will explore electronics as they design and build a rover suited for exploration. Through the magic of Spark, students will remotely control their rover to take the first photographs, measure the first data, and collect rock specimens. Which team can collect the most rocks and prepare the most thorough lab report of their findings? Join Mr. Bill on this Electronics in Action summer project at Spark! Tuition: $300. Materials Fee: TBD
Intro to Computer Aided Design & 3D Printing: Sample the world of Computer Aided Design! Students will use Autodesk Fusion to create a decorative donut, a ring that fits, and a model of a rocket. There is plenty of room for artistic expression while learning to navigate CAD software and build to precision specs. Students will gain the foundation to explore 3D printing on their own or the confidence to continue into the full year of CAD offered at Spark in the fall. Each student will need a Windows or Apple laptop computer with a 3-button mouse. They will also need to either download a trial version of Autodesk Fusion or obtain a free student license before the first day of class. Tuition: $200. Materials Fee: TBD
Engineering Design Project: Enter the world of mechanical engineering! Each team of students will apply the Engineering Design Process to prototype a mechanism to crush aluminum cans. This is a fun way to practice creative thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as applied engineering concepts. Tuition: $200. Materials Fee: TBD
Intro to Soldering: Summer is the perfect time to earn a soldering badge! Students will learn safety and proper soldering technique while assembling a take-home jitterbug project. After completing this introductory workshop, students are eligible to enroll in advanced soldering project workshops, and will be able to operate a soldering iron during Spark Innolab classes. Tuition: $200. Materials Fee: TBD
Science Experiments: Hands-on experiential fun! This workshop will introduce select topics in chemistry and physics so that students can conduct related experiments. Science will be discussed at an upper middle-school level to lower high-school level, though the Curiosity Guide will be able to answer more advanced questions. Tuition: $200. Materials Fee: TBD
Engine Take-Apart and Rebuild: Curious how an engine works? Students in this workshop will take-apart and rebuild a small internal combustion engine (such as from a weed wacker) to learn about its systems. As with all Spark classes, close-toes shoes are required, and be sure to wear clothes that can get greasy! This class will be held outside, so dress for warm weather. The July 27th section of this class is restricted to students aged 14+. Tuition: $80. Materials Fee: TBD
Design a T-Shirt: Bring your creativity and design your own t-shirt! Students will create a file that we will transfer to the t-shirt brought from home. Students will also be able to socialize and enjoy pizza. Tuition: $60. Materials Fee: TBD
Design a Coffee Mug: Bring your creativity and design your own coffee mug! Students will create a file that we will transfer to a coffee mug we provide. Students will also be able to socialize and enjoy pizza. Tuition: $60. Materials Fee: TBD
